Los Tejanos: A 500-Year History is a sweeping documentary that chronicles five centuries of Tejano history, from the early 1500s to the present. Drawing on oral histories, archival research, and expert commentary, the film explores the Vaquero tradition, the leadership of Tejana women, and the deep cultural, economic, and political impact of Tejano communities in South Texas. By confronting the erasure and marginalization that followed U.S. annexation, the documentary recovers overlooked histories and challenges exclusionary accounts of the American past. The result is both an act of historical reclamation and a tribute to the resilience, identity, and enduring legacy of Los Tejanos. 122 minutes.
